Item Upgrading The Process Isn't As Hard As You Think

Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. Upgrades also boost bonuses like crit chance and PvE Damage.
If the weapon's upgrade template ends in %, it will be able to gain an additional 3% of the previous damage every time it's upgraded.
The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level.
Components
Upgrade components can be added to weapons, armor and trinkets to provide them with a boost in stats or to add an additional effect. They can be obtained through making crafts, buying from vendors or trading with other players or looting. Certain upgrades also come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components can be placed in equipment that has a slot to accommodate them. The item must have been at a minimum upgraded to blue level for a component to be inserted. Like other mods, upgrade components can only be used one time; they cannot be applied multiple times or replaced with upgrades. Infusions and Enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items. Infusions and enrichments are recovered by salvaging gear that is ascended or by completing an elite mission in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the item to which it is used (for examplefor example 'Canthan Armor Insignia' becomes Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades boost an item's Mark Level or Rarity, allowing players to create stronger versions of the equipment using fewer Upgrade Crystals than would be required to reach the same level of upgrade using normal methods.
A 'boost' upgrade can alter the attack or defence attributes of the weapon or armor. Once the player has completed the cutscene and defeated Crazed Mechanist, these upgrades can be crafted at the Portative Forging Station. They can also be dropped by enemies while upgrading other gear, or by buying them from the cash shop for 500 upgrade crystals per.
Home increases the chance that a better-quality version of the item will be dropped during the next reset. This gives the player an incentive to continue improving their equipment, even if they're unsure of how much they'll improve after a future reset.
Whether a boost upgrade is successful or not, the process can be costly, and there is a substantial chance that the item could be obsolete or even break when it fails. A unsuccessful upgrade could ruin Upgrade Crystals and Assist Powder as well as the upgraded item. This is mitigated by the availability of cash shop items that can increase or even eliminate the chances of failure, and some upgrades that offer a bonus when reinserted into an item.
Glyphs
Glyphs can be used to improve the Paragon Board by placing them in sockets that are specifically designed for. Glyphs increase the power of all nodes in the area around them, including pre-existing affixes on equipment. Glyphs can be upgraded various ways, and we recommend getting them to level 15 as soon as possible.
You'll often see in the endgame that putting Glyphs is a great method to upgrade your equipment. They are the only upgrade components that can be upgraded directly to level 15 and offer significant boosts to your power and radius on the Paragon Board, enabling you to climb higher nodes much faster.
Glyphs, which is the only upgrade component which can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions are the most popular. Only legendary equipment can be salvaged and replaced with the aid of a Black Lion Salvage Kit.
The value of each Glyph is displayed when you choose it in your inventory. You can replace it with another Glyph that is the same or higher rank to increase the value of the Glyph.
There are Glyphs in the Black Lion Trading Post, as part of a Gem Store purchase or bundle with certain gathering tools that are unlimited-use as well as through Faction Crypt raids. Every Faction Crypt will drop one of these Glyphs. There are also some rare glyphs which you can find in any of the Faction Crypts.
Once you have obtained the desired Glyphs you will need them to be placed on your gear. Using Glyphs Glyph will boost all the nodes that are linked to it, so you should try to place your Glyphs near the most important nodes of the Graph to maximise the impact. For instance an Druid should aim to place their Glyphs near their primary damage nodes, however, you may also want to think about placing them near crucial damage nodes, too.
Leveling
The upgrade system of items allows players to increase the effectiveness of certain items by introducing upgraded components. This is commonly known as "upping". Every upgradeable item is assigned a level that determines the final statistics. Upgraded items can be leveled until they reach a maximum level of ilvl 385. Each item level requires a different number of components to reach and the costs for upgrading increase as the item gets upgraded.
Certain upgrades require a specific ingredient to activate. This ingredient is obtained by completing Upgrade Recipes. These recipes can be found in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or purchased from some NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe completed yields a certain number of Technology points. These points can be used to level the item, and when enough points have been earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When the player improves a piece of equipment it will be replaced with a new item. The same armor can be transformed into the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item will have a unique bonus. This could be a problem in that it could cause the item to become more expensive, even if you don't need it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can reroll item upgrades. The item will be replaced with an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. This can be useful for certain items, however it shouldn't be performed frequently, since it can use up lots of resources.
Some upgrades can be rerolled multiple times, increasing their value and allows the player to modify their gear. One example is Dolphin's Gift, which gives an increase in power when a player repeatedly enters and exits water (or does not swim as dolphins). It is possible to upgrade it several times, each time increasing the max roll by a factor of 10. This item can be very useful in PvP battles, since the best version of it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its value if it is not upgraded.
Requirements
The ability to upgrade items allows players to upgrade the level of their equippable equipment - weapons, armor, and trinkets above ilvl 385--by presenting the appropriate items and currencies to an item upgrader NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also boost the defense of the base set, while upgrades to weapon items boost their base damage as well as the required strength and dexterity.
All items can be upgraded a maximum of five times, except for hero gear that can have eight upgrades. Every time you upgrade an item it has the chance to fail. The failure rate increases the farther you go beyond the maximum amount of upgrades. Failures will cause the item to revert back to its original state, requiring the player to pay more for materials than they would had they stopped upgrading at the maximum number of upgrades.
If an item isn't upgraded the experience bar on the bar for growth will be reset to zero. The item also loses any bonuses it has gained, such as the chance to crit damage to attack, other effects (such as a higher healing rate over time, or reloading speed). The player can continue to use their weapon or armor even after the failure.
Whenever an item is upgraded, the upgrades are applied from the lowest to the highest. This means that, when a weapon gains an increase in its crit chance, the increase is applied prior to any increase in attack damage. Slots is a new attribute that was added to item definitions. The value is recalculated every time an upgrade occurs.
The amount of resources needed to upgrade an item is determined on the rarity rating as well as the number of upgrade slots. The cost of upgrading non-premium equipment is equivalent to the value of the base item. For example, a common item might have five upgrades for a price of. 25600 Technology Points, 4x Quality Improvement Chance. Hero grade items have lower costs per upgrade.
Premium items have different requirements for upgrading than standard gear--for instance, they may require fewer sowels, but more minerals and erons.
